Facts last verified on 3 November 2026
- Queensland Courts says you advertise your intention to apply in the Queensland Law Reporter, using the wording in Form 103, and send a copy to the Queensland Public Trustee (Apply for a grant).
- You wait at least 7 days after the Public Trustee receives the notice, and 14 days after the notice is published to allow objections, before filing. The court gives worked examples, and the add-on's date tracker follows them.
- Self-represented applicants file in person or by post at the Brisbane, Cairns, Rockhampton or Townsville registry. The grant is emailed to you.
- The filing fee for probate or letters of administration is listed as A$847.60, and fees usually rise each 1 July (Supreme Court fees). Check the current page before filing.
- The Queensland Revenue Office says an estate administrator must contact it if a Form 4 (Request to record death) or Form 5 (Transmission application) is not registered with Titles Queensland before the 30 June after the death (QRO: deceased estates).
- A vehicle registered in two names can be transferred free to the surviving operator. Otherwise form F5296 is used (Transport and Main Roads).

Time limits: flags, not calculators
Section 41(8) of the Succession Act 1981 (Qld) says a family provision application is not heard unless proceedings are started within nine months after the death, unless the court directs otherwise. Section 44(3) protects a personal representative who distributes properly at least six months after the death without notice of a claim, or at least nine months after the death if notice has been received, unless told proceedings have started (last verified 3 November 2026). The add-on shows these as flags with their source, not calculated deadlines. Please confirm with a solicitor before distributing anything.
Questions
Is the QLD Add-on part of the Complete Pack?
No. It is a separate product. The Complete Pack contains the Workbook, the Letter Pack and the Beneficiary Pack.
Do I need the Workbook as well?
The add-on works on its own, but it is designed to sit beside the Workbook, which holds the main asset, debt and contact records for the estate.
Does it tell me what the law requires?
No. It is a record-keeping template with links to the official Queensland pages and the date we checked each one. For advice about your situation, speak to a Queensland solicitor or the Queensland Public Trustee.
